I work with high octane students. Students with high talent and high needs. Honors classes, accelerated programs, advanced mathematicians relative to their ages. I help top students perform at the top of their game. There is a common misconception that students gifted in mathematics don't have as many problems. In truth, they simply have different problems. Being at the top of the class can be alienating and lonely. Entering the first math class to challenge them much later in life can be very disorienting. They come up hard against expectations of high achievement and perfection, and it can be very, very difficult. Many tutors are completely unaware of problems like these and wouldn't even think to address them.
